Richa Hammer Jean Review from Visor Down

I'VE BEEN meaning to write about these Kevlar lined and armoured Richa Hammer jeans for a while, but have been using them so much that until now, I’ve been reluctant to stop using them off for closer inspection while I write about them.
That’s testament to how good they are, and how comfortable they are too. They’re made of denim that, to my fingertips, feels like it’s good quality. The quality of the finish is similarly impressive with neat, tidy stitching, a good quality YKK zip, plus a consistent rich dark blue colour that hasn’t faded in the wash.
Once on, they feel like a normal pair of jeans, although the cut feels a bit less tailored than what you'd get with from Levis or similar. Having said that, they're good to wear all day long without any problems and thanks to the absence of stitching across the knees that usually indicates armour, it’s not obvious these are designed for riding in.
You’ve got to turn them inside out to get a good look at what protection is on offer and where it is. There’s abrasive-resistant Kevlar fibre material across the arse area (I think that’s the medical term) and over the knees. It’s all soft and comfortable and compared to a regular set of jeans, the only difference in how these feel is that they’re a little thicker in places.
Additional protection at the knees comes courtesy of the removable, shaped knee armour, which comes supplied. Inserting is as easy as popping it round a few loops (four for each knee) and the soft pads sits comfortably in place while riding and walking about, without making it look like you’ve got gigantism of the knees.
Although the knee armour is appreciated, it’s can be irritating because the Cordura-type material that attaches it to the jeans doesn’t have a soft finish; it's scratchy and sometimes rubs against the skin. For this reason, I mostly wear these with the knee armour left at home, although I suppose I could stuff it down the crotch instead of those socks I always use.
There are pockets at the sides for hip armour, which doesn’t come supplied.
They easily fit over all my boots as well.
For all-day long comfort, more protection than standard denim, and a competitive price £79.99, I'm impressed.

Another victory for 2015 Moto2 champion Johann Zarco in Malaysia

Furygan’s Johann Zarco took his eighth win, and 14th podium, of the season at the 17th round of the Moto2 championship at Sepang, Malaysia. The newly crowned 2015 champion, started the weekend strong by setting the fastest ever Moto2 lap during FP3, smashing Pol Espargaro’s lap record from 2012.
The Frenchman continued this form with a race-long battle against Thomas Luthi, waiting until the last lap to make the move that saw Zarco equal Marc Marquez (2012) and Tito Rabat’s (2014) record of 14 podiums in an intermediate season.
Sam Lowes was running well in seventh but struggled with what appeared to be technical issues. The Brit dropped down the running order before making a late comeback to finish 13th. Thitipong Warokorn finished the day in 27th place. Tito Rabat opted to miss the Malaysian grand prix to focus on the healing of his broken radius.
Meanwhile in a MotoGP race that was dominated by controversy after an incident with Valentino Rossi and Marc Marquez, Furygan-supported Mike De Meglio came home in 18th.
In Moto3 Jules Danilo had a great start, moving from 28th on the grid to just inside the top-20 in the first lap and a half. The Italian-born Frenchman steadily made his way through the field to finish the race just outside the top-ten in 11th.
The next round of the FIM CEV Repsol championship at the Circuito de Jerez takes place next weekend (31 October – 1 November), while the final round of the 2015 MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 championships will take place in Valencia on 6– 8 November.

Furygan riders in action-packed weekend

This weekend was action-packed for Furygan supported riders with the final rounds of the British Superbike Championship (Brands Hatch, UK) and World Superbike Championship (Losail, Qatar) as well as the 16th round of the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 championships (Phillip Island, Australia).
Round sixteen of the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 championships took place at the Phillip Island circuit in Australia. In Moto2 Sam Lowes finished on the podium with second place after a tough mid-race battle with Thomas Luthi. 2015 champion Johann Zarco finished the weekend in seventh, while Thitipong Warokorn finished in 25th. Esteve Rabat was forced to withdraw after a crash in free practice two aggravated a previous injury.
In MotoGP Mike De Meglio finished in 20th while in Moto3 Jules Danilo was unfortunate to receive a DNF.
The final World Supersport round of the 2015 season took place under the floodlights of Losail, Qatar. After setting the fastest lap in Friday’s practice sessions (just one second shy of the lap record) and running at the front of the field in the early part of the race, Lucas Mahias was forced to settle for fourth place.
The MCE British Superbike Championship came to its conclusion with a triple-header at Brands Hatch, where Lee Jackson took a superb fifth place in race one. Jackson followed this with sixth place in race two and looked set to have another good result in the third race but was unfortunately knocked off his bike resulting in a DNF.
Danny Buchan had another strong weekend and came away from the three races with eighth, ninth and seventh places respectively. Robbin Harms continued his racing return finishing in the top twenty in races one and three (18th and 15th). Harms was unfortunate to receive a DNF in race two.
In the Motorpoint British Supersport category Kyle Ryde finished the 2015 season as championship runner-up with two results that saw him finish just outside of the podium (fifth & fourth).
Strong performances from Furygan riders in the Superstock 1000 and 600 categories saw Adam Jenkinson on the Superstock 1000 podium with a third place, and take fifth place in the championship, while Jordan Weaving finished the final Superstock 600 race in fifth.
Next weekend (23-25 October) the MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3 paddock will head to Sepang, Malaysia for the penultimate round of the 2015 season.

This weekend saw Furygan riders in action across Europe with the penultimate rounds of both the British Superbike Championship (Silverstone, UK) and the World Superbike Championship (Magny-Cours, France), as well as the sixth round of the FIM CEV Repsol Championship at the Circuito de Navarra, Spain.

In the MCE British Superbike Championship Danny Buchan had his first weekend aboard the PBM Kawasaki, replacing Stuart Easton after the withdrawal of the Be Wiser Kawasaki team. The BSB rookie had a mixed weekend with a DNF in the first race and 14th in the second.

Lee Jackson finished just outside the top ten in race one in 11th place, with only 1.7seconds separating him from tenth, before battling forward to ninth in race two. Julien Da Costa continued to ride in the place of Honda’s injured Jason O’Halloran and the Frenchman left Silverstone with 17th and 15th placings. Robbin Harms made his racing return at Silverstone but was left disappointed after a DNF in the first race prevented him from taking part in the second.

In the Motorpoint British Supersport category Kyle Ryde had a strong weekend at the windy Northamptonshire circuit, where after some intense battles Ryde placed fifth in both races. Adam Jenkinson finished just shy of a podium position in the National Superstock 1000 race with fourth position, while in the Superstock 600 category Jordan Weaving unfortunately crashed out of the race, unhurt, after a technical issue with his Kawasaki.

Meanwhile at Magny-Cours, an early red flag halted the World Supersport race. On the restart Lucas Mahias was immediately on top form in front of his home crowd finishing on the podium with third place, his first in the Supersport category.

It was a Furygan 1-2 in Moto2 race one in the FIM CEV Repsol Championship at the Circuito de Navarra with Xavi Vierge Zafra and Alan Techer. Zafra went on to claim his second podium of the day with second in race two, while Techer finished fifth. Adrien Pittet battled through the cold and changing conditions to take two top ten finishes; seventh and tenth. After an unfortunate DNF in the first race, Thibaut Bertin moved himself through the pack to take 12th in race two.

Stéphane Frossard came away from the weekend with 18th and 21st placings. In the Superbike Privateers category, Axel Maurin finished the first race in 13th place before a stronger race two saw Maurin claim sixth.

Next weekend (9-11 October) the MotoGP paddock heads to the Twin Ring Motegi for the Japanese Grand Prix. The final rounds of the British and World Superbike Championships will take place on 16-18 October.

Mixed weekend for Furygan supported riders throughout Europe

It was a busy weekend for racing as the British Superbike championship continued with the tenth round of the series taking place at Assen in the Netherlands, the Endurance World Championship was at the 5.8 km Paul Ricard circuit in France for the Bol d’Or and the World Superbike was at Jerez, in Spain.

In the MCE British Superbike class Danny Buchan finished in the points in both races, taking tenth and 12th place, while Lee Jackson finished 12th in the first race and 17th in the second outing.

It was a much better weekend than the previous one at Oulton for Kyle Ryde in the British Supersport championship. After qualifying fourth, Ryde had two solid results in both races, with a sixth place finish in race one and fifth place in race two.

Round 11 of British Superbike Championship takes place on 2-4 October, at Silverstone.

There was also action in France at the weekend with the final round of the Endurance World Championship, the 24-hour Bol d’Or race. Furygan’s supported Julien Da Costa, Freddy Foray and Sébastien Gimbert claimed fourth place on the grid at the Bol d’Or and led for most of the race, but unfortunately, on Sunday morning at 10:30 (local time) the team had to retire because of a machine failure. After a year of highs and lows for the Honda Endurance Racing team, they finish the EWC championship ninth.

The World Superbike Championship was at Jerez, Spain, this weekend with Lucas Mahias finally back in the World Supersport class with a new team MG Competition. Unfortunately for Mahias, after a good start of the weekend and a sixth place in the qualifying, the Frenchman had to retire from the race due to a technical issue with his bike.

The next round of the World Superbike Championship takes place at Magny-Cours, France, on 2-4 October.

Next weekend (25-27 September), there will be MotoGP action at Aragon, in Spain.

British Superbike action for Furygan riders at Thruxton

This weekend the MCE British Superbike championship and its support classes headed to Hampshire to the fast and flowing Thruxton circuit, for the seventh round of the championship.

Kyle Ryde enjoyed another solid weekend in the Motorpoint British Supersport championship races stepping on the rostrum in second place in race one and finishing race two fifth. The youngster is second in the championship standings, 28 points behind the leader.

It was a disappointing weekend for Danny Buchan in the British Superbike classes after scoring two DNF’s. Race one saw Buchan start from ninth on the grid, but he crashed out towards the closing stages of the race, unhurt. In race two a tyre issue unfortunately forced him out of the running. Fellow Furygan supported Lee Jackson had impressive pace in race two, finishing ninth after starting from the back of the grid.

It was a busy weekend for Superstock 1000 rider Adam Jenkinson, who was drafted in by Milwaukee Yamaha to replace its injured rider Broc Parkes in the Superbike class. Jenkinson impressed with his pace on-board the R1 scoring points in both races with a solid 12th and 13th place finishes. The Knutsford man placed fourth in the National Superstock 1000 race. Jordan Weaving crossed the line eighth in the Superstock 600 class.

The British Superbike championship now heads to Cadwell Park in Lincolnshire for the eighth round of the season on 21-23 August.

New Shark Race Support Unit

Shark are proud to premier the latest Race Support Unit that will be used at BSB and WSB (English rounds only)

Shark Racing and Technical Manager Mark Eilledge had the Iveco 75 E16 van converted to his exact specification to meet the growing needs of the UK race scene.

BSB riders who can often be seen in and around the van at weekends include the likes of James Westmoreland, Kyle Ryde, Lee Jackson & Danny Buchan, all keen for the custom service provided by Mark Eilledge.

Every cupboard & compartment was built around the helmets and tooling required to maintain them and give the racers the top quality service they have come to expect from Shark.

The Race unit in action ready to help racers perform at their optimum level.

Kyle Ryde enjoys double podium at Brands Hatch

The MCE British Superbike championship made its second visit of the year to Brands Hatch, in Kent this weekend, with riders taking on the 3.916km Grand Prix circuit. Round six proved to be a weekend of mixed fortunes for Furygan’s supported riders.

Kyle Ryde had another successful weekend in the Motorpoint British Supersport championship, visiting the podium in both races with a 2-2 performance. The PacedayZ Trackdays Yamaha rider had to ride hard in the first few laps to gain track position, which kept him from closing the gap to race winner Luke Stapleford. Ryde sits second in the championship standings, eight points from the overall lead.

Meanwhile, in the MCE British Superbike races, Furygan’s Danny Buchan had a difficult weekend. Buchan had a great start in race one before he was caught in an incident, which put him out of the race and meant he was unable to take part in race two. The Brit only suffered a suspected mild concussion and is otherwise OK. Lee Jackson finished his weekend just outside of the top ten in 12th and 11th places.

It was an unfortunate weekend for the Furygan riders in the National Superstock 1000 and 600 races. Adam Jenkinson (Superstock 1000) was back after an injury-induced eight-week break but was unable to convert his enthusiasm, and his strong seventh place qualifying, into a good race result. A great start saw Jenkinson make his way up to fourth at the end of the first lap but at the end of the second lap a crash at Clearways ended his race; fortunately, the Knutsford man escaped injury. Jordan Weaving (Superstock 600) was also unable to finish his race.

The British Superbike Championship will return for round seven (31 July – 2 August) at Thruxton in Hampshire.

This coming weekend (26 July) will see Furygan’s endurance riders Freddy Foray, Sebastien Gimbert and Julien da Costa in action at the 8-hours of Suzuka in Japan.

INTERPHONE F5 MC WINS INTERCOM OF THE YEAR !!!

webBikeWorld Motorcycle Product of the Year Category Communications System: INTERPHONEF5MC

" 2014 could have been called "The Year of the Intercom", making for a difficult choice but there was one standout: the Interphone F5MC (review).

Top-of-the-line intercoms (aka "communication systems") have an extensive feature set that can be complex and difficult to use.

But the Interphone F5MC makes it easy with its helpful "Voice Wizard" spoken status announcements that are just a step beyond the other manufacturers' systems, guiding owners through every menu choice.

The F5MC also has outstanding sound quality; a good built-in FM Radio; "Anycom" ability to pair with other brands and lots more, edging it past the competition...."
